Our Favorite Door County Winter Activities

1. Ice Fishing

Lake Michigan, in the winter, is a frozen oasis. Ice fishing on frozen Lake Michigan is a prime way to chill out and relax on the lake. Once a survival necessity, ice fishing on Lake Michigan in the winter is now a favorite winter pastime. With changing ice conditions and the travel of fish throughout the season, the fishing locations can include Sturgeon Bay, Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, and Sister Bay. If you’re new to the sport, consider taking a guided ice fishing trip, that will supply you with safe transportation to proven fish catching locations, quality equipment, and heated ice houses to help you stay warm.

2. Cross-Country Skiing

Door County boasts nearly 50 miles of trails to explore in its state parks, such as Peninsula State Park. Most of these trails offer some of the most stunning views in the Midwest. Cross-country skiing is also a favorite activity for many winter visitors, and we’re sure you’ll love it as well! Whether you are a beginner or an experienced skier, you will find a trail that is perfect for your skill level. If you need ski equipment, you will be able to rent from Bay Shore Outfitters or Nor Door Sports.
