The Best Door County Restaurants
1. Alexander’s of Door County
For the cherry on top of a romantic evening, or as a special treat to yourself, Alexander’s provides contemporary cuisine and fine dining year-round. Our good friend Bruce Alexander specializes in seafood, hand-cut steaks, and original creations that are all made with only the finest ingredients. They understand that being the best means having the best quality, and you’ll find quality and passion for food during every moment of your dining experience.
2. Village Cafe
Located just a short walk from The Ashbrooke, the Village Cafe is one of the top Door County restaurants in Egg Harbor. If you are looking for a hearty breakfast, light lunch or are simply craving their famous carrot cake, we encourage you to stop by. And, make sure to try the breakfast potatoes!
3. Barringer’s Restaurant
Barringer’s Restaurant in Fish Creek started out as part of our long family heritage of successful Door County businesses. Debi’s great-grandfather, Jacob Barringer, built the building that now houses Barringer’s restaurant to serve ice cream as part of the family’s Central Hotel in Fish Creek. Their menu showcases specially selected steaks, fresh seafood and generous sides (make sure to try the Brussels Sprouts!). Weekly blackboard specials highlight their daily features. The historic dining room and indoor/outdoor bar provide the true Barringer’s experience with locally sourced ingredients and craft cocktails and wine selection by our in house certified sommelier.
One of the Door County restaurants that we always recommend to our guests is CHOP, a family-owned and operated steakhouse. This treasured eatery features an extensive menu created with high-quality ingredients, a romantic atmosphere, and an exceptional overall experience. One of their chefs was even featured on Fox 11 for a live cooking demonstration!
5. Chives Door County
Located in Downtown Bailey’s Harbor, this farm-to-table culinary experience is a true delight for your taste buds. Chives is most known for its food quality, presentation and value. You’ll also find their food trucks daily at the Hatch Distillery here in Egg Harbor and the Door County Brewing Company in Baileys Harbor, along with Fish Fry Fridays on-site each Friday evening.
6. The Fireside Restaurant
Moving to Egg Harbor from Ellison Bay for 2019, the Fireside Restaurant is a chef owned and operated Wisconsin supper club with a Cajun attitude. Enjoy the highest quality, most creative menu in Door County. This classic supper club has all your traditional favorites with a fish fry on Friday and prime rib on Saturday’s. And it is home to the big easy jambalaya, shrimp monterey and goat cheese grits, along with Door County’s original chicken and waffles. The Char family will welcome you!
7. The Waterfront Restaurant
If it’s fine dining that you seek, the Waterfront Restaurant in Door County is the place to be! True to its name, the eatery boasts a beautiful waterfront location right on the shores of Green Bay on the north end of Sister Bay and brilliant sunsets that can be viewed from every table in the restaurant. Of course, the lovely waterfront scenery isn’t the only thing that keeps guests coming back.
8. LURE Restaurant
Known as one of the best Door County restaurants in Sister Bay, LURE offers something for anyone to enjoy! The restaurant is housed in a former church and serves a wide variety of tasty selections such as freshly-caught seafood, succulent steaks, and delicious handcrafted cocktails. In addition to an impressive menu, the restaurant also offers an inviting ambiance with intimate booths and an outdoor garden patio featuring a koi pond.
Just a short distance from the hotel is Parador, a tapa’s restaurant that was voted one of the best restaurants in Door County. The restaurant is locally owned by a couple whose passion for food is inspired by global recipes. It also doesn’t hurt that their sangria is one of the best you’ll ever taste!
10. Shoreline Restaurant
This local favorite has become a Door County must and one of the best places on the peninsula to enjoy fine dining with a waterfront view. Mike and Mary Mead and their family at Shoreline Restaurant in Gills Rock serve up delicious cuisine and delectable experiences. The nightly specials (especially the chicken parmigiana on Wednesday) are some of the best offerings in all of Door County!
11. Fred and Fuzzy’s Waterfront Bar and Grill
Located along the shores of Little Sister Bay, Fred and Fuzzy’s is a popular waterfront dining option amongst locals and tourists alike. Come and enjoy a “Fred’s Favorite” steak sandwich or try one of their famous Door County Cherry margaritas while listening to live music. You’ll also be invited to sit back and relax as the spectacular view of the bay or an incredible Door County sunset melts away all of your worries.
12. Wild Tomato
Wild Tomato does more than serve amazing wood-fired pizzas, salads, sandwiches, and burgers. They also contribute to their community and the environment by using sustainable products and only the best and highest-quality ingredients available. 11. Mr. Helsinki Restaurant and Wine Bar
Since the restaurant’s opening in 2000, Mr. Helsinki has become one of the most popular eateries in Fish Creek. Along with a Creole and Cajun-inspired dinner menu in addition to one of Door County’s best hamburgers, they also boast a wine menu that features over 30 different wines. Mr. Helsinki’s main goal is to provide you with an exciting and interesting dining experience using a combination of unique homemade recipes prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients.
12. Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant and Butik
Known worldwide for the live goats that graze on the roof, Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant and Butik is an absolute must! Celebrities and diners from all over the globe have flocked to this local gem to snap a picture of the rooftop goats and get a taste of the authentic Swedish cuisine. As you feast on a Scandinavian buffet plate or homemade pickled herring, feel free to explore the restaurant and admire the unique decor. You may also venture outside to enjoy lawn games such as giant Jenga or goat ring toss at their outdoor Scandinavian bar and beer garden, Stabbur.
13. Donny’s at Glidden Lodge
This family-owned restaurant on the Lake Michigan waterfront near Valmy is truly a local favorite. Donny’s at Glidden Lodge offers the perfect combination of great food with quality service. The owners, Don and Rita Zellner are committed to providing you with an amazing experience. They are proud to serve choice Black Angus cuts of meat and use the finest and freshest ingredients for all of the offerings, including each of their nightly specials.
14. Bluefront Cafe
Since 2002, The Bluefront Cafe has delighted Door County diners with eclectic cuisine in an upbeat atmosphere. If you are in Sturgeon Bay for the day, this is the perfect lunch spot to enjoy tasty lunch sandwiches, organic coffee, and signature entrees like burgers, meatloaf, and grilled smoked turkey. (In case you were interested, Fred’s grandmother and grandfather used to own the grocery store that now houses the Bluefront!)
