2. Visit a State Park

Sturgeon Bay is comprised of three state parks just begging to be explored. Potawatomi State Park has 1,200 acres of rolling terrain and lovely limestone cliffs. The Whitefish Dunes State Park protects the fragile dune environment along Lake Michigan. Plenty of recreational activities can also be found at Sturgeon Bay Parks and Recreation, which consists of 19 parks, nine ball fields, a skating rink, and more.

Door County is home to six beautiful lighthouses, three of which are in Sturgeon Bay. The Ship Canal North Pierhead Light is a massive red structure and part of the U.S. Coast Guard station. Both the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal Lighthouse and Sherwood Point Lighthouse were built in the 17th century and can be toured during the annual Lighthouse Festival in June.
