When Do the Festivities Start? 

The 4th of July celebrations in Door County get started the day before on July 3. Isn’t that great? You get a whole extra day of 4th of July fun. On July 3rd at Harbor View Park is where the Independence Day Celebration gets going.

Starting in the evening, you can come chow down on good food and refreshing beverages from local vendors. There’ll be live music playing, creating the perfect vibe for celebration. All of this is in preparation for one of Door County’s most anticipated nights of the summer – the Independence Day parade.

Once the sun sets, there will be a preliminary fireworks show to get you excited for what’s to come on July 4th! You are sure to be wowed by this sparkling firework show over the water.

Then, on July 4th, the fun continues with one of the much-loved events in the state: the annual Independence Day Parade. Recently voted the Best of Door County, this parade is a special tradition that you won’t want to miss. Starting at 11AM, you can come down to Harbor View Park for more food and refreshments. The parade starts at 1:30PM, so be sure to grab a good spot on the parade route.  

If you’re interested in being a part of the parade, you’re welcome to! Parade line up is on a first come, first served basis. Come down to the north side of Church Street an hour before the parade starts to line up and get your copy of the parade rules. Then you’re in!  

The parade route runs south along Highway 42 from the north end of Church Street to Highway T! The energy is contagious as locals and visitors come together to cheer on a colorfully patriotic procession of floats, performers, firetrucks and more as they make their way down the route.  

Don’t worry, the fun doesn’t stop once the parade ends. Stick around for the live music performances! Local bands will take the stage playing their best, along with marching bands too. Over in Baileys Harbor, the celebration carries on with even more live music, for a non-stop Independence Day party. These 4th of July celebrations really capture the spirit of summertime in Door County.
